The Mettelhorn with a height of 3408m (11175ft) stands exposed on the left side of the valley of Zermatt, with a outstanding view to the Matterhorn and the surrounding peaks over 4000 meters (13123ft). This side of the valley is not accessible by cable cars. The ascent takes approx. 4 to 5 hours and goes by the Berggasthaus Trift at 2337m (7667ft). Then it follows a small side valley, the Triftchumme, and heads over firn field right to the summit.
Attention: This tour is reserved to experienced hikers and requires sturdy shoes. Please inform you before at the Berggasthaus Trift about the snow conditions.
